Board-Certified Adult, Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist
Dr. Mark Corsale is a Board-Certified Psychiatrist in Adult, Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and a graduate Psychanalyst. A clinical practitioner of 30 years, Dr. Corsale has helped children and families dealing with emotional and behavioral challenges to improve family relationships and negotiate the mental health needs of the child. Dr. Corsale draws from his diverse training and clinical experience to address the specific emotional and psychiatric needs of each individual patient/family. He brings to his work a depth of expertise from years of advanced training in psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, psychoanalysis and Dialectic Behavior Therapy. His approach to individualized care is derived from a command of psychiatric skills, advanced psychodynamic knowledge and a thorough understand and appreciation of developmental psychology. “Facilitating healthy development, addressing psychiatric symptoms and educating families to foster engagement, support and understanding are fundamental to working with children and adolescents.” Dr. Corsale’s areas of interest include depressive disorders, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, adjustment disorders, trauma related disorders and ADHD.
Background
Dr. Corsale obtained his undergraduate degree at the University of Iowa graduating Phi Beta Kappa. He attended The University of Iowa College of Medicine where he first developed his interest in the field of Psychiatry. Dr. Corsale pursued training in Psychiatry at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine where he served as Chief Resident. He obtained his training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine remaining on faculty following graduation. His training in psychoanalysis occurred thru the Duke/University of North Carolina Psychoanalytic Institute. Dr. Corsale has worked in youth related treatment settings including outpatient, inpatient and residential treatment. He most recently has been in private practice in Atlanta, Georgia where he was a faculty member of the Emory Department of Psychiatry and Emory Psychoanalytic Institute. Dr. Corsale is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Since 2004, Dr. Corsale has been recognized annually by his peers with his continued inclusion in “Best Doctors in America”.
